![]() ![]() Absurdly-Spacious Sewer: There is one below Yulgar's inn, where Blob Monsters spawn aplenty. ![]() 20 Bear Asses: Most story and side quests forces the player to kill a lot of mobs and gather quest items.Nonetheless, the game is open to all players, and it usually receives updates on a weekly basis.Īdventure Quest 3D provides the following tropes: The game and its storyline are still highly unfinished, having been in open beta for years. Crafting uses a real-time timer before the crafted item can be received, but this time limit can be bypassed using Dragon Crystals. The player can also visit various NPCs and gather materials from various monsters, dungeons, and quests to craft different sorts of gear and cosmetics. Each class has five skill slots: three for normal skills, one for a cross skill that can be used from other classes, and one ultimate skill that charges up and becomes available as you deal damage or provide healing, depending on the class. You can change into any class at any time outside of combat. The gameplay is rather simple: There are multiple classes to choose from, with four to start with, but you can unlock more through daily quests (although some also have the additional prerequisite of having another class at rank 10). aaaaand getting involved in the typical Lampshade Hanging and Hurricane of Puns typical of Artix Entertainment games. ![]() The story then follows the heros exploits and rise to their former power across Lore, all while retrieving runes to activate a location in the Travel Portal to retrieve a legendary weapon, and recruiting more and more allies to assist in the struggle against Vane and his goons. An immediate Curb-Stomp Battle ensues, ending with the hero being thrown all across Lore and into Dragonwatch Keep. That, and theyve lost all of their previous powers and skills. Hence, you might want to wait for the developers to finish working on it before you can enjoy the whole thing as it was meant to be played. The hero then confronts Vane, who reveals that he knows the hero already, as they were a legendary hero that has since been forgotten during their previous life. A colorful, but rather simple and empty gameĪll things considered, AdventureQuest 3D can be quite the engaging experience for a short period of time, but it’s a bit too unpolished and empty at the moment. Lastly, the graphics are nothing to write home about either, but they are not that important in an MMO anyway, at least if everything else works according to plan. There’s barely any strategy or tactic involved, although things may be different when you are cooperating with other players. The combat is as basic as possible as well, and you only have to click on the foe and mash the 1-2-3-4 keys until it drops dead. Granted, this is the price to play for cross-platform capabilities, because it’s obvious that weaker devices wouldn’t be able to cope with higher levels of detail. In fact, it barely feels like an MMO, especially when you consider how small the maps are and how little you can interact with them. The game itself feels more like a hack & slash that just happens to have other players in there as well, so that’s a bit of a bummer. The latter features nothing out of the usual, so the last hope rests with the gameplay mechanics and the actual experience. In fact, besides the fact that you can choose between a female or a male character, the only other things that can be changed is the appearance and your class. Naturally, you begin by creating a character, although there are not that many choices in this regard. Hence, the game is more approachable and less complicated, not to mention the fact that it also allows for cross-platform play, which means that you can join your games from mobile devices, tablets, or a regular computer. Create your hero and start your adventureĪdventureQuest 3D is a casual MMORPG designed to cater to a much more relaxed public, unlike the giants of the genre, such as World of Warcraft or Rift. Unfortunately, this also means that there’s an alarming number of tasteless clones on the market at the moment. However, things got easier to handle in the last few years, especially since there are so many sources of inspiration out there. MMOs were pretty rare two decades ago, given the fact that the technology was not yet perfected and it was very expensive for the developers to maintain the servers.
